Poetry Post 112

Numb
People have always thought that I was dumb
Because I couldn't tell fantasy from the real
But it's because the pain has made me numb
And I had found that it was better not to feel
I can no longer distinguish what is real from what exists only in my mind
And I know it is better that way
The pain I see I need never feel and I create the illusion that I'm fine
And tend to have a better day

Low Self Esteem Romance
I know I am ugly
But you might learn to love me
If I throw in my self respect for free
I know it's not much value
But it'll have to do
Because I have to be with you

Self Eulogy
At my funeral there'll be no crying
Because I'm not remembered upon my dying
Efforts of vainly straining for recognition were no use in trying
I was lonely and rejected in every phase and aspect
Even my dying words will have no affect
Because this world has giving me no respect

Poetry Post 111 (not binary for 7)

Humor
When loneliness comes upon me
I sit in my chair and watch comedy
The humor then starts to comfort me
The laughter sets me free
No longer stuck with depression
My body gets a ticklishly sensation
The humor brings calmness to all creation
In the end all is left with satisfaction

Sleep
Laying softly in my bed
Letting all my pain leave my head
No worries in the Land of Dreams
Where nothing is as bad as it seems
All the imaginary people live in harmony
Forever my friends they will be
But then I wake up and remember pain
Another day of misery again
Then that night I enter my bed
Then to the perfect world in my head
Peace of mind enters within me
No pain as far as the eye can see

Words
From thine own words I should feel complimented
If I knew for sure that you really meant it
But words that charm
Can also harm
When one is subdued
By words that aren't true

Poetry Post 110

Grandpa
I remember the warmth of his flannel pajamas
But more I remember the warmth of the heart of Grandpa's
The tenderness of his beard was like the tenderness of his heart
Oh what an evil killer and bitter sweet reminder is tobacco
The scented murderer that took your soul
A memory and an enemy I can not depart

Drugs
I don't get my daily hugs
So my therapist prescribes drugs
People are more willing to make my parents pay a pill they can't afford
Than to let me have a token reward
No one even stops to chat
They just treat me like a doormat

Age Of Purity

What happened to the age of purity
When parents hugged away every insecurity
What happened to my grandparents and childhood sweetheart
I lost everything I had at the start
All the swing sets
All the house pets
What happened to the sixties sitcom
Or Carmen San Diego on CD-ROM
What happened to the middle aged ladies of the congregation
Who gave such enduring adoration
Anything broken can be mend
But will I ever find my lost friend
What you love won't always be there
So you have to spend the time to show you still care
My best friend Michael moved away ten years ago
My first crush Mindy is dating someone I hardly know
Grandma and Grandpa Ash are buried in their grave
What's left of my childhood to save
I can't reverse the trails and trials of time
But I missed my mark and long since my prime

War Machines
I'm sick of the nations emptying their mouths of nothing
Watching the world burn on flames as war upon war they bring
A million martyrs never knowing their cause
As greedy corporate nations dig in their claws
Power bought with guns and votes of illusion
Leaving the proletariat powerless in their disillusion
Klan, Nazis, Skull And Bones, Crips, Bloods, Taliban, al Qaida, Black Panthers
None of them looking for answers
They are all the same party a party of hate
Poor, pacifist, proletariat don't have anyone to even closely relate
Hate, war, money, hate, war, money it's the same damn chorus
A tune stuck implanted inside of us
But the politicians cheat
They hide under a patriotic beat
They have the world at their command
But won't help out in the homeland

God & Country
Learn to live free
Live for God don't die for country
Learn to stand up for what is right
Not go from fight to fight
The worst offense is an offense
the best fight is passive defense
The noblest point of view
Is doing as you believe you ought to

Eye For An Eye

People crying eye for an eye
You kill we fry
It doesn't matter if it's right as long as you can justify
Why are we blinded by this hypocrisy
I'll wrong you if you wrong me
Why are we stuck with this judgmental mentality

Poetry #108

Eluding Danger IV
Depressed
And stressed
About the problems yet to face
Trying to find a peaceful place
Keep trying to avoid another complication
When you're trying to escape your current situation
Just escaping a series of unfortunate events
Solving and surviving problems are just ongoing accomplishments

Eluding Danger V
You live in dread and doubt
Trying to figure your life out
Looking for a friend to confide
And give you a place to hide
While unlocking the secrets of your past
Hoping this charade might just last
Just escaping a series of unfortunate events
Solving and surviving problems are just ongoing accomplishments

Winter Depression
On a cold winter afternoon I look out my window
Even shielded by the glass I can feel the cold wind blow
It's like a sad somber autumn when winter has no snow
The bitter wind blows harshly colder so you have no place to go
Nature is a long way from suburbia and I won't get there before dark
The closest field is a thirty minute walk to a litter polluted park
Either way it's just as well when nature's retreated there's nothing to embark
For there is no sign of life when nature clears its mark

Poetry #107

Ebony IV
Loving you is like a cold blanket over my heart
Thinking of your kindness while we're apart
The distance freezes me over like a snowstorm
Knowing I'll be with you keeps me warm
Keeping visions of you in my sight
Keeps me warm at night
Fears that all this might end
Freezes over me again

Next Best Thing

All I hear are women complaining there are no good men
They all assume all men are like their last boyfriend
Until they meet a new one and it starts all over again
Then it's back to me wishing they had the courage to make it all end
Move on to the next relationship to let their heart mend
Why can't they love me I can't comprehend
I've been an ear piece, a comforter, a time sharer, a woman's best friend
What horrible sin have I committed to be so unforgiven
What makes me worse than all these other men
I know I'm not handsome, but laughter, conversation, time and love I have given
All this you acknowledge and commend
I don't say any of this as boastful means to self serving ends
But why when it all falls down again
I am still no more than a friend

Rachel

Seeing your face as you come toward me
Reminds me of the sunrise over the horizon of the sea
Your words are like a zephyr that caresses me
There is no moment so tranquil to compare to your beauty

Foreigner's Two Cents
The world has tried to banish or damn
All the things that make me who I am
I am ostracized, slandered and held in derision
Because of my devotion of a different religion
I am put at a distance and set apart
Because I'm a patron of the Censored Art
I am harassed by the self-appointed authorities
Because I have a varying set of priorities
But all in all it makes no difference
Because nothing's as worthless as a foreigner's two cents

Liberation From Bigotry

The Confederation lost Vicksburg and Gettysburg simultaneously
One week in July of 1863
The slaves were practically free
Hitler proclaimed the Jews and Negroes an inferior race
But in the Berlin Olympic Jesse Owens four times won first place
As Einstein became the intellect's face
Bigotry was defied
Truth was not on their side
Yet the movement has not yet died

Unity (Haiku)
Where is unity
It broke smashed into pieces
Scattered through the world
