The Monkees (Film) Scene IV

(Mike re-enters the main rehearsal room)
Micky: Everything okay now?
Mike: Yeah
Davy: Great job Micky
Mike: So what are we going to play?
Carole: If you don't mind Micky wrote a song for me a couple days ago. The music is on each of your music stands already.
Mike: Is Micky going to sing and play drums?
Micky: No I don't have to but I'd like to sing.
Mike: Then who will play drums?
Carole: I can I know the song
Mike: Okay just for rehearsal until we get use to the song because it can only be the four of us and we all got to be playing something.
Carole: Okay (Mike gets his guitar; Davy gets his bass; Peter gets his keyboards and Carole plays drums)
Micky: Now I lead (Song: Daydream Believer)
Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings
Of the bluebird as she sings.
The six o'clock alarm would never ring.
But it rings and I rise,
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes.
My shavin' razor's cold and it stings.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
You once thought of me
As a white knight on a steed.
Now you know how happy I can be.
Oh, and our good times start and end
Without dollar one to spend.
But how much, baby, do we really need.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Peter: I think we got a hit.
Davy: If we had a record
Micky: Well we can't afford studio time
Mike: We might not have to I invested $5000 in recording equipment so we can record live DVDs and CDs at our shows and sell them ourselves
Peter: Why not record at our home?
Mike: Because the acoustics are wrong, it would sound like a lame demo but I found people selling bootlegs of that gig we did at the park two years ago.
Davy: People are buying our albums?
Mike: Only we're not making any money.
Davy: But people are finding out about us.
Mike: Well yeah but until we get steady pay we can't allow bootleggers to take our money.
Davy: But the bootleggers are actually doing our publicity for us, in a couple of days a music executive could be looking for us.
Peter: And until then I got work at Toys R Us.
Micky: How long have you worked there?
Peter: Two weeks I just got my first paycheck.
Davy: Great let's get drunk. Drinks are on Peter (They leave to bar)
