The Monkees (film) Epilogue

(The Great American Band with all 4 Monkees with Mary, Carole, Shannon, and Sharon in the front row audience)
Ryan Seacrest: And now to play their two new hits to kick off the second season of the Great American Band last year's winners The Monkees
Micky: (song: Randy Scouse Git)
She's a wonderful lady
And she's mine all mine
And there doesn't seem a way
That she won't come and lose my mind.
It's too easy humming songs
To a girl in yellow dress
It's been a long time since the party
And the room is in a mess.
The four kings of E.M.I.
Are sitting stately on the floor
There are birds out on the sidewalk
And a valet at the door.
He reminds me of a penguin
With few and plastered hair,
There's talcum powder on the letter
And the birthday boy is there.
Why don't you cut your hair?
Why don't you live up there?
Why don't you do what I do,
See what I feel when I care?
Now they've darkened all the windows
And the seats are naugh-a-hyde.
I've been waiting for an hour,
I can't find a place to hide.
The being known as Wonder Girl
Is speaking I believe.
It's not easy tryin' to tell her
That I shortly have to leave.
Why don't you be like me?
Why don't you stop and see?
Why don't you hate who I hate,
Kill who I kill to be free.
[Progressive scat vocals]
Why don't you cut your hair?
Why don't you live up there?
Why don't you do what I do,
See what I feel when I care?
Why don't you be like me?
Why don't you stop and see?
Why don't you hate who I hate,
Kill who I kill to be free.
Davy: (song: Forget That Girl)
Forget that girl,
She'll only make you sad someday.
Forget that girl,
She'll never make you happy.
Stay away from her, my friend,
Stay away from her.
Forget that girl,
She'll only bring you down again.
Forget that girl,
She'll only make you lonely.
Stay away from her, my friend,
Stay away from her.
There was a time when she could really love you
When she was thinking only of you
But now she's thrown herself above you
And there's nothing you can do.
Forget that girl,
Even though you find it's hard.
Forget that girl,
Even though you love her.
She's in love with him, my friend,
She's in love with him.
Oh yeah, she's in love with him.......

The Monkees (film) Closing Sequence

Peter: (song: For Pete's Sake) (Monkees going backstage partnering up with their girlfriends celebrating; laughing altogether)
Love is understanding,
Don't you know that this is true.
Love is understanding,
It's in everything we do.
In this generation,
In this lovin' time,
In this generation,
We will make the world shine.
We were born to love one another
This is something we all need.
We were born to love one another
We must be what we're goin' to be
And what we have to be is free.
In this generation,
In this lovin' time,
In this generation,
We will make the world shine.
We were born to love one another
This is something we all need.
We were born to love one another
We must be what we're goin' to be
And what we have to be is free.
Love is undertanding, we gotta be free
Love is undertanding, we gotta be free

The Monkees (film) Scene XXV

(at the show)
Ryan Seacrest: Hello and welcome to the Great American Band, I'm Ryan Seacrest and tonight coming from the LA area we have 24 bands playing for your votes for this 3 hour premiere. Our first band (walks toward the Monkees) is from the LA area so may I talk to the leader of the band
Mike: That would be me
Ryan Seacrest: That's kind of a strong Texas accent for someone from LA.
Mike: I'm from Texas the band formed in LA
Ryan Seacrest: Okay so what's your anme?
Mike: I'm Michael Nesmith
Ryan Seacrest: Pardon Michael Nesmit
Mike: Nesmith
Ryan Seacrest: Sorry Mike would you like to introduce your bandmates?
Mike: On keyboards from Connecticut Peter Tork, on bass from Manchester, England Davy Jones.
Ryan Seacrest: Ah the poster child of the group
Mike: And last but not least our drummer and lead singer tonight from LA Micky Dolenz.
Ryan Seacrest: The drummer sings? Is this a novelty act?
Mike: No our song tonight is Porpoise Song.
Ryan Seacrest: Seriously is this like Tenacious D, Spinal Tap, the Blues Brothers or (laughing) maybe more like the Partridge Family or Alvin and the Chipmunks.
Mike: No
Ryan Seacrest: Seriously Porpoise Song?
Micky: Have you heard it before?
Ryan Seacrest: No actually I have not so what is the name of your band?
Mike: The Monkees
Ryan Seacrest: Seriously?
Micky: Yes now let us play.
Ryan Seacrest: Okay (backs off stage)
Micky: Start Peter (Song: Porpoise Song)
My, my the clock in the sky is pounding away
There's so much to say
A face, a voice, an overdub has no choice
And it cannot rejoice
Wanting to be, to hear and to see
Crying to the sky
But the porpoise is laughing good-bye, good-bye
good-bye, good-bye, good-bye
Clicks, clacks
Riding the backs of giraffes for laughs is alright for a while
The ego sings of castles and kings and things
That go with a life of style
Wanting to feel, to know what is real
Living is a lie
But the porpoise is waiting good-bye, good-bye
Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye
Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye
Good-bye, good-bye, good-bye (crowd roars with applause)
Mike: We may not win but we already made it.

Iambic Pentameter
I hate myself and want to die
Don't follow me to go save me
You did not give a (bleep) then, you don't now
Don't destroy what you are liable for
And act depressed or shocked about all this
You know you desired this pain on me
Empathy for empathy hate for hate
I will not give haters of me a (bleep)
(for those choosy about expletives pick whichever ever one you feel most applies)

Tobacconist
You stand with a heart so cold
On your mountain of gold
From the souls you stole
For profits their death was sold
The killer that murders slow
So that years and people watch them go
A half dead half life is all they know
And that full death is yet to hit the final blow

Death Out On Sale
A lying SOB leads a cancerous trail
Putting death out on sale
Making millions off of killings
But never needs money for bail
For every twenty dollar bill
He's there ready to kill
With a cigarette bullet
But where is he with the medicine when you're ill

Poetry Post 175

Elegy For The Living
I don't know how to feel
I don't know what is real
I could run until I'm out of breath
But there is still no escaping death
If it were mine
I'd feel fine
For death is no shock for those who die
For it is not them that wonder why
Nor do they hide themselves to cry

Supportive Career
Gone with no future in sight
And no way to get through the night
While worried about a supportive career
With no clear answer near
Every night struck dead with fear
All because of a failed search for a career
I've worked so hard already I'm worn and tired
I've worked so hard already I should have retired

Happiness Is Gone
Happiness is gone
Should I move on
What is left to be offered from life
If it just adds strife
