The Monkees (film) Scene XXIV

(at a hotel room with instruments out)
Mike: So any new songs to practice?
Davy: How many songs do we have to play on this show?
Mike: Well if we make it to the finale we would have to play 24 songs at least.
Mary: How many do you know?
Mike: Pleasant Valley Sunday
Carole: Daydream Believer
Peter: Take A Giant Step
Micky: I'm Not Your Steppin' Stone
Peter: Goin' Down
Mike: Listen To The Band
Davy: Tear Drop City
Shannon: It's Nice To Be With You
Carole: As We Go Along
Mary: Tapioca tundra
Davy: What?
Mary: It's one of Mike's songs
Davy: That explains it
Micky: (imitating an old radio DJ) And now the number one song in the nation asking that musical question "What the hell is a tapioca tundra?" here's Mike Nesquick
Mike: Nesmith
Davy: Where were we?
Peter: About the tenth song what else is there?
Davy: Oh My My, I Love You Better, A Little Bit Me A Little Bit You
Peter: I'm A Believer, The Girl I Knew Somewhere
Davy: Valleri
Peter: That reminds me of another song but one we haven't played yet.
Mike: Really what is it?
Peter: Well before I tell you I got to talk to Shannon (Peter and Shannon go aside)
Shannon: Is there something you want to tell me?
Peter: That's what I was going to ask you.
Shannon: What do you mean?
Peter: I feel like you're leading me on with one foot out the door.
Shannon: How's that?
Peter: You take eagerly and pay back with vague compliments that aren't backed up by your time or affection that seems pretty close to manipulative
Shannon: You paranoid misogynist I'm leaving
Peter: You don't understand
Shannon: What don't I understand?
Peter: You know I'm a giver and I've dated some abusive takers I'm surprised you don't understand.
Shannon: No you don't understand I am not like Valleri or Diane
Peter: But you are acting like them so how am I to know (Song: Words)
Girl, don't you know everytime I see you smilin'?
Hurts so bad cause when I see you, I start tryin'.
Try everything to stop but there's no denying.
Falling in love with you girl is just like dying.
Ohhh, don't walk away.
Ohh, How can I make you stay, don't turn away
I can still hear you saying those
Words that never were true.
Spoken to help nobody but you.
Words with lies inside,
But small enough to hide
'Til your playin' was through. Ah!
Girl don't you know we can work it out with talkin'?
You won't turn around or slow down your walking.
I've given you everything with kiss to seal it
You had to get your kicks with tryin' to steal it.
Now, I'm standing here.
Strange, strange voices in my ears, I feel the tears
But all I can hear are those
Words that never were true.
Spoken to help nobody but you.
Words with lies inside,
But small enough to hide
'Til your playin' was through. Ah!
Now, I'm standing here.
Strange, strange voices in my ears, I feel the tears
But all I can hear are those-
Words that never were true.
Spoken to help nobody but you.
Words with lies inside,
But small enough to hide
'Til your playin' was through. Ah!
Shannon: So you would like an explaination for why I'm acting so distant
Peter: Yes please
Shannon: We've dated for a month
Peter: So you're tired of me already?
Shannon: No I'm getting back into a normal routine
Peter: (insecure) Without me?
Shannon: (comfortingly) No I'm readjusting my obligations and our relationship. I got to fit the two together.
Peter: How do I know you're not going to faze me out?
Shannon: Don't be silly if I fazed you out who would be there for me? (Peter and Shannon make out)
Mike: (Walking over) We're going to do a new song of Micky's at he show.
Peter: Okay

Working Day
Getting up out of bed before the rise of the sun
But you still overslept and there's too much to get done
The sun is now shining up and you're on the run
You are already late and the day just begun
You are doing your own work the very best you can
The other workers treat you like you are not human
You need to go for a walk you need to change your plan
You're stuck in a dark room wanting to be a free man
You're wondering how you got stuck here
Finally the day's end is now near
Your mind is now becoming more clear
Tomorrow has become your only fear

Eternal Sleep
What's the use of getting up today
From dawn to the last evening ray
Life goes on the same miserable way
I wish I could have gone away a hero
But I lost the war and there's no where to go
And there's no more friends I can go to I know

Wind
A cold, harsh wind dominates the trees
Bullying, harassing, knocking them over in a stern breeze
Maples, redbuds, apple trees shaking in their boots
Tormented from trunk to crown with nothing safe but the roots
The wind carelessly blows by, damaging others just to show it's free
Pushing around every blade of grass and every harmless tree
It ruthless ravages everything around
So I hide safely underground

Poetry Post 173

Norm
I am pushed to conform
To an ignorant norm
To reject desire and seek obedience
To live without experience

Isolation
I am still trapped in my box of isolation
Nothing here can stop my gruesome dark depression
To keep my life I need some more inspiration
Or I might let myself leave all God's creation

The Real Me
Don't let my mask confuse you
My persona and me are not one but two
I use my drugs and childish ways to avoid pain and fear
I speak loud and act insane just to let someone know I'm here
But if you'd let me take off this mask and let me be free
You shall finally see the true me

Poetry Post 172

Persecution
Why do evil ones cast stones
On already broken bones
Their sunburnt leather tongues whip every with a curse word
While their cries of agony go unheard

Laws Of Man
I learned the Bible, Jesus and Jehovah
I've learned Dylan, Lennon and Buddha
If you read Walden or Marx there's not much conflict
And the creeds of the world don't often contradict
And though the laws and principles of man are massive
They mainly decree to love and be otherwise passive
So we must impart knowledge and love to be free
And then may choose what we want to be

Views

I am my own voice
My life is my choice
I can only speak on my own behalf
So I can only speak truth from my own path
Trying to conform to another view
Would impurify what I feel is true

Poetry Post 171

I Will Stay
It's alright my dear friend
I will stay with you to the end
And then one day we will see each other again
Don't worry it will be alright
I will stay from the break of night
To the break of daylight
We have nothing to fear just hold my hand
No one can destroy something so grand
Together we'll last till the Promised Land

Loneliness
Loneliness you have found me once again
I thought for once I would have a best friend
I can not help but feel close to the end
Then I realize Jehovah is my friend

Mortal Legends
Are the universal mysteries locked in your mind
Albert Einstein
Do you hear from the mountaintops equality ring
Martin Luther King
Can you cure the sick and paranoid
Sigmund Freud
Are all people free
Mahatma Gandhi
Is racial prejudice gone
Abraham Lincoln
Did the proletariat light the sparks
Karl Marx
Does personal conscience stand with human law set below
Henry David Thoreau
Is human technology used to turn our minds on
Thomas Alva Edison
No your time and power was not infinite
So our work and causes are not definite

Poetry Post 170

Unfinished Will
I pray my vices never go pass me
While my virtues transcend all through society
I wish to do good without piety
Remain a humbled slave to humanity
Though I don't live every second of my life doing goodwill
I will always try to do my part forever still
But I'll only go so far before sin makes my spirit ill
So I'll keep on marching until...

Need Of A Samaritan

Sometimes I resent isolation sometimes I like being alone for awhile
Sometimes my mental distractions are anywhere from wholesome to vile
But most of the time I lay half dead on the road
Lonesome trying too hard to carry my own load
A voluntary and reluctant hermit
I find it too easy to quit
But no one comes to help me on my way
Burdened down on the road day after day

Holy Womb
Ever since I was born
The Devil's tried to make me torn
But back when I was a fetus
I was protected by Jah and Jesus
And in their holy womb I felt stronger
As I stayed there longer

Poetry Post 169 (13x13)

Barbara
Barbara I have every reason to love you this way
You have a smile as warm as the sun's summer midday ray
A pure sense of humor and wit
A strong personality that knows not to quit
And a loving heart that always knows what to do
All women fall short of you

True Virginity
It isn't a crime
If it ain't right the first time
The right man won't mind a history
As long as the future's filled with fidelity
The definition of true purity
Ain't strictly measured in virginity
Anything lost can be recovered
It doesn't always belong to the one who first discovered
It is not always first but true love is always best
Because true love is home in the heart of the one you quest

As Friends
You and I started as a casual acquaintance
As friends neither of us has been high maintenance
Our faces and feelings are all so familiar
Now it feels as if we are becoming something more
As friends we kept our love from burning out
We are well settled our love and our doubt
When friendships are made
The flames never fade
When you are with someone you know will care
It is so easy to let your heart be bare

The Monkees (film) Scene XXIII

(train station lobby Mike on his cell phone other 3 Monkees waiting on a bench)
Mike: Hey Mary can you help us think of a way to get to Beverly Hills?
Mary: I already have one.
Mike: (excited) How?
Mary: From the train station I called Carole and Shannon they'll pick us up at the train station.
Mike: Thank you Mary than you so much (hangs up) Guess what Shannon and Carole are going to pick us up and take us to Beverly Hills
Davy: Sharon?
Mike: No Shannon
Davy: (disappointed) Oh (Mary arrives in the lobby)
Mike: Mary! (Song: Good Clean Fun) (Shannon and Carole arrive and embrace Micky and Peter while Davy just watches and cries until Sharon appears at the end of the song)
There's a smile on the wind as it touches my face
And starts to erase all the gloom
And the sun with a kiss, begins to dismiss the
Memory of my life without you
Well it seems like yesterday that my path took me away
Although I know it's been at least a year
But now my path heads home
And your patient time alone
Has brought me even closer to you, dear
And this plane gets closer
Every minute I look down to a watch that keeps looking back at me
And it says to me, "Be patient son you've waited this long."
How can I be strong?
And this the plane gets closer
Every minute I look down to watch that keeps looking back at me
And it says to me, "Be patient son you've waited this long."
How can I be strong?
Well the plane is finally down
And the engines stopped their sound
And I look in the crowd and there you stand
And the gap that once was time
Is forever closed behind
I told you I'd come back and here I am...
Davy: Sharon how did you know to meet us here? Why did you finally believe me?
Sharon: Carole called
Davy: How did she finally convince you of the truth?
Carole: I told her the truth, she needed to hear it from someone else.

Confronting Adversaries
Admit you love to see me in misery
It makes you feel better than me
You count my every misstep
While your sins are secretly kept
You call me obscene, rude, or brass
As your pompous piety shows no sign of high class
You loudly proclaim I am not for your company
But if you openly showed your standards we'd all see the hypocrisy

Vain Worship
What of mine is there to sacrifice
Nothing of mine would suffice
There is nothing of mine to meet that price
There is nothing from me you can gain
All service and works are in vain
All that comes from me leaves only misery and pain
This is simply a battle I wasn't meant to win
How can one be holy if they can't begin
For from start to finish life to death is led by sin

Foreign Friends I
Only speaking through written message
Puts me in social bondage
Trapped to speak only from a distance
The bonds I attempt will never stand a chance
You can't know who I am or where I'm coming from
I try to touch you but you feel stone numb
We can't see what is simply out of range
So the connection is just artificial and strange

Genesis 2:18-24

18 And Jehovah God went on to say: “It is not good for the man to continue by himself. I am going to make a helper for him, as a complement of him.” 19 Now Jehovah God was forming from the ground every wild beast of the field and every flying creature of the heavens, and he began bringing them to the man to see what he would call each one; and whatever the man would call it, each living soul, that was its name. 20 So the man was calling the names of all the domestic animals and of the flying creatures of the heavens and of every wild beast of the field, but for man there was found no helper as a complement of him. 21 Hence Jehovah God had a deep sleep fall upon the man and, while he was sleeping, he took one of his ribs and then closed up the flesh over its place. 22 And Jehovah God proceeded to build the rib that he had taken from the man into a woman and to bring her to the man.

23 Then the man said:
“This is at last bone of my bones
And flesh of my flesh.
This one will be called Woman,
Because from man this one was taken.”

24 That is why a man will leave his father and his mother and he must stick to his wife and they must become one flesh. 25 And both of them continued to be naked, the man and his wife, and yet they did not become ashamed.

Ruth 1:16, 17

16 And Ruth proceeded to say: “Do not plead with me to abandon you, to turn back from accompanying you; for where you go I shall go, and where you spend the night I shall spend the night. Your people will be my people, and your God my God. 17 Where you die I shall die, and there is where I shall be buried. May Jehovah do so to me and add to it if anything but death should make a separation between me and you.”

Proverbs 5:15-23

15 Drink water out of your own cistern, and tricklings out of the midst of your own well. 16 Should your springs be scattered out of doors, [your] streams of water in the public squares themselves? 17 Let them prove to be for you alone, and not for strangers with you. 18 Let your water source prove to be blessed, and rejoice with the wife of your youth, 19 a lovable hind and a charming mountain goat. Let her own breasts intoxicate you at all times. With her love may you be in an ecstasy constantly. 20 So why should you, my son, be in an ecstasy with a strange woman or embrace the bosom of a foreign woman? 21 For the ways of man are in front of the eyes of Jehovah, and he is contemplating all his tracks. 22 His own errors will catch the wicked one, and in the ropes of his own sin he will be taken hold of. 23 He will be the one to die because there is no discipline, and [because] in the abundance of his foolishness he goes astray.

Proverbs 31:10-31

10 A capable wife who can find? Her value is far more than that of corals.

11 In her the heart of her owner has put trust, and there is no gain lacking.

12 She has rewarded him with good, and not bad, all the days of her life.

13 She has sought wool and linen, and she works at whatever is the delight of her hands.

14 She has proved to be like the ships of a merchant. From far away she brings in her food.

15 She also gets up while it is still night, and gives food to her household and the prescribed portion to her young women.

16 She has considered a field and proceeded to obtain it; from the fruitage of her hands she has planted a vineyard.

17 She has girded her hips with strength, and she invigorates her arms.

18 She has sensed that her trading is good; her lamp does not go out at night.

19 Her hands she has thrust out to the distaff, and her own hands take hold of the spindle.

20 Her palm she has stretched out to the afflicted one, and her hands she has thrust out to the poor one.

21 She does not fear for her household because of the snow, for all her household are clothed with double garments.

22 Coverlets she has made for herself. Her clothing is of linen and wool dyed reddish purple.

23 Her owner is someone known in the gates, when he sits down with the older men of the land.

24 She has made even undergarments and proceeded to sell [them], and belts she has given to the tradesmen.

25 Strength and splendor are her clothing, and she laughs at a future day.

26 Her mouth she has opened in wisdom, and the law of loving-kindness is upon her tongue.

27 She is watching over the goings-on of her household, and the bread of laziness she does not eat.

28 Her sons have risen up and proceeded to pronounce her happy; her owner [rises up], and he praises her.

29 There are many daughters that have shown capableness, but you—you have ascended above them all.

30 Charm may be false, and prettiness may be vain; [but] the woman that fears Jehovah is the one that procures praise for herself.

31 GIVE her of the fruitage of her hands, and let her works praise her even in the gates.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12

9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their hard work. 10 For if one of them should fall, the other one can raise his partner up. But how will it be with just the one who falls when there is not another to raise him up?

11 Moreover, if two lie down together, they also will certainly get warm; but how can just one keep warm? 12 And if somebody could overpower one alone, two together could make a stand against him. And a threefold cord cannot quickly be torn in two.

Song Of Solomon 4:1-5

1 “Look! You are beautiful, O girl companion of mine. Look! You are beautiful. Your eyes are [those of] doves, behind your veil. Your hair is like a drove of goats that have hopped down from the mountainous region of Gil´e·ad. 2 Your teeth are like a drove of freshly shorn [ewes] that have gone up from the washing, all of which are bearing twins, with none among them having lost its young ones. 3 Your lips are just like a scarlet thread, and your speaking is agreeable. Like a segment of pomegranate are your temples behind your veil. 4 Your neck is like the tower of David, built in courses of stone, upon which are hung a thousand shields, all the circular shields of the mighty men. 5 Your two breasts are like two young ones, the twins of a female gazelle, that are feeding among the lilies.”

Song Of Solomon 8:6,7

6 “Place me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; because love is as strong as death is, insistence on exclusive devotion is as unyielding as She´ol is. Its blazings are the blazings of a fire, the flame of Jah. 7 Many waters themselves are not able to extinguish love, nor can rivers themselves wash it away. If a man would give all the valuable things of his house for love, persons would positively despise them.”

Matthew 19:3-9

3 And Pharisees came up to him, intent on tempting him and saying: “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on every sort of ground?” 4 In reply he said: “Did YOU not read that he who created them from [the] beginning made them male and female 5 and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and will stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh’? 6 So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has yoked together let no man put apart.” 7 They said to him: “Why, then, did Moses prescribe giving a certificate of dismissal and divorcing her?” 8 He said to them: “Moses, out of regard for YOUR hardheartedness, made the concession to YOU of divorcing YOUR wives, but such has not been the case from [the] beginning. 9 I say to YOU that whoever divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication, and marries another commits adultery.”

John 15:11-16

11 “These things I have spoken to YOU, that my joy may be in YOU and YOUR joy may be made full. 12 This is my commandment, that YOU love one another just as I have loved YOU. 13 No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his soul in behalf of his friends. 14 YOU are my friends if YOU do what I am commanding YOU. 15 I no longer call YOU slaves, because a slave does not know what his master does. But I have called YOU friends, because all the things I have heard from my Father I have made known to YOU. 16 YOU did not choose me, but I chose YOU, and I appointed YOU to go on and keep bearing fruit and that YOUR fruit should remain; in order that no matter what YOU ask the Father in my name he might give it to YOU.

Acts 20:31-35

31 “Therefore keep awake, and bear in mind that for three years, night and day, I did not quit admonishing each one with tears. 32 And now I commit YOU to God and to the word of his undeserved kindness, which [word] can build YOU up and give YOU the inheritance among all the sanctified ones. 33 I have coveted no man’s silver or gold or apparel. 34 YOU yourselves know that these hands have attended to the needs of me and of those with me. 35 I have exhibited to YOU in all things that by thus laboring YOU must assist those who are weak, and must bear in mind the words of the Lord Jesus, when he himself said, ‘There is more happiness in giving than there is in receiving.’”

Romans 8:35-39

35 Who will separate us from the love of the Christ? Will tribulation or distress or persecution or hunger or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 Just as it is written: “For your sake we are being put to death all day long, we have been accounted as sheep for slaughtering.” 37 To the contrary, in all these things we are coming off completely victorious through him that loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers 39 nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God’s love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 12:9-16

9 Let [YOUR] love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is wicked, cling to what is good. 10 In brotherly love have tender affection for one another. In showing honor to one another take the lead. 11 Do not loiter at YOUR business. Be aglow with the spirit. Slave for Jehovah. 12 Rejoice in the hope. Endure under tribulation. Persevere in prayer. 13 Share with the holy ones according to their needs. Follow the course of hospitality. 14 Keep on blessing those who persecute; be blessing and do not be cursing. 15 Rejoice with people who rejoice; weep with people who weep. 16 Be minded the same way toward others as to yourselves; do not be minding lofty things, but be led along with the lowly things. Do not become discreet in YOUR own eyes.

1 Corinthians 7:1-7

1 Now concerning the things about which YOU wrote, it is well for a man not to touch a woman; 2 yet, because of prevalence of fornication, let each man have his own wife and each woman have her own husband. 3 Let the husband render to [his] wife her due; but let the wife also do likewise to [her] husband. 4 The wife does not exercise authority over her own body, but her husband does; likewise, also, the husband does not exercise authority over his own body, but his wife does. 5 Do not be depriving each other [of it], except by mutual consent for an appointed time, that YOU may devote time to prayer and may come together again, that Satan may not keep tempting YOU for YOUR lack of self-regulation. 6 However, I say this by way of concession, not in the way of a command. 7 But I wish all men were as I myself am. Nevertheless, each one has his own gift from God, one in this way, another in that way.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

1 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels but do not have love, I have become a sounding [piece of] brass or a clashing cymbal. 2 And if I have the gift of prophesying and am acquainted with all the sacred secrets and all knowledge, and if I have all the faith so as to transplant mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my belongings to feed others, and if I hand over my body, that I may boast, but do not have love, I am not profited at all.

4 Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up, 5 does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury. 6 It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will be done away with. 9 For we have partial knowledge and we prophesy partially; 10 but when that which is complete arrives, that which is partial will be done away with. 11 When I was a babe, I used to speak as a babe, to think as a babe, to reason as a babe; but now that I have become a man, I have done away with the [traits] of a babe. 12 For at present we see in hazy outline by means of a metal mirror, but then it will be face to face. At present I know partially, but then I shall know accurately even as I am accurately known. 13 Now, however, there remain faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Ephesians 5:21-33

21 Be in subjection to one another in fear of Christ. 22 Let wives be in subjection to their husbands as to the Lord, 23 because a husband is head of his wife as the Christ also is head of the congregation, he being a savior of [this] body. 24 In fact, as the congregation is in subjection to the Christ, so let wives also be to their husbands in everything. 25 Husbands, continue loving YOUR wives, just as the Christ also loved the congregation and delivered up himself for it, 26 that he might sanctify it, cleansing it with the bath of water by means of the word, 27 that he might present the congregation to himself in its splendor, not having a spot or a wrinkle or any of such things, but that it should be holy and without blemish.

28 In this way husbands ought to be loving their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself, 29 for no man ever hated his own flesh; but he feeds and cherishes it, as the Christ also does the congregation, 30 because we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave [his] father and [his] mother and he will stick to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This sacred secret is great. Now I am speaking with respect to Christ and the congregation. 33 Nevertheless, also, let each one of YOU individually so love his wife as he does himself; on the other hand, the wife should have deep respect for her husband.

Philippians 2:1-4

1 If, then, there is any encouragement in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any sharing of spirit, if any tender affections and compassions, 2 make my joy full in that YOU are of the same mind and have the same love, being joined together in soul, holding the one thought in mind, 3 doing nothing out of contentiousness or out of egotism, but with lowliness of mind considering that the others are superior to YOU, 4 keeping an eye, not in personal interest upon just YOUR own matters, but also in personal interest upon those of the others.

Colossians 3:12-15

12 Accordingly, as God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, clothe yourselves with the tender affections of compassion, kindness, lowliness of mind, mildness, and long-suffering. 13 Continue putting up with one another and forgiving one another freely if anyone has a cause for complaint against another. Even as Jehovah freely forgave YOU, so do YOU also. 14 But, besides all these things, [clothe yourselves with] love, for it is a perfect bond of union.

Hebrews 13:1-6

1 Let YOUR brotherly love continue. 2 Do not forget hospitality, for through it some, unknown to themselves, entertained angels. 3 Keep in mind those in prison bonds as though YOU have been bound with them, and those being ill-treated, since YOU yourselves also are still in a body. 4 Let marriage be honorable among all, and the marriage bed be without defilement, for God will judge fornicators and adulterers. 5 Let [YOUR] manner of life be free of the love of money, while YOU are content with the present things. For he has said: “I will by no means leave you nor by any means forsake you.” 6 So that we may be of good courage and say: “Jehovah is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

1 Peter 3:7-9

7 YOU husbands, continue dwelling in like manner with them according to knowledge, assigning them honor as to a weaker vessel, the feminine one, since YOU are also heirs with them of the undeserved favor of life, in order for YOUR prayers not to be hindered.

8 Finally, all of YOU be like-minded, showing fellow feeling, having brotherly affection, tenderly compassionate, humble in mind, 9 not paying back injury for injury or reviling for reviling, but, to the contrary, bestowing a blessing, because YOU were called to this [course], so that YOU might inherit a blessing.

1 John 4:11-19

11 Beloved ones, if this is how God loved us, then we are ourselves under obligation to love one another. 12 At no time has anyone beheld God. If we continue loving one another, God remains in us and his love is made perfect in us. 13 By this we gain the knowledge that we are remaining in union with him and he in union with us, because he has imparted his spirit to us. 14 In addition, we ourselves have beheld and are bearing witness that the Father has sent forth his Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever makes the confession that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God remains in union with such one and he in union with God. 16 And we ourselves have come to know and have believed the love that God has in our case.

God is love, and he that remains in love remains in union with God and God remains in union with him. 17 This is how love has been made perfect with us, that we may have freeness of speech in the day of judgment, because, just as that one is, so are we ourselves in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love throws fear outside, because fear exercises a restraint. Indeed, he that is under fear has not been made perfect in love. 19 As for us, we love, because he first loved us.
