The Monkees (Film) Scene III

(Mike's bedroom with Mike and Mary)
Mary: I know you never promised me a rose garden but I'd settle for a front lawn.
Mike: You know I've been trying to run away from suburban life.
Mary: Are you saying you regret settling down?
Mike: No I like being a husband but that's different than a suburbanite. A suburbanite has no loyalties or dreams beyond his own sheltered community and school district (Song Pleasant Valley Sunday)
The local rock group down the street Is trying hard to learn their song
Serenade the weekend squire, who just came out to mow his lawn
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Charcoal burning everywhere
Rows of houses that are all the same
And no one seems to care
See Mrs. Gray she's proud today because her roses are in bloom
Mr. Green he's so serene, He's got a t.v. in every room
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Here in status symbol land
Mothers complain about how hard life is
And the kids just don't understand
Creature comfort goals
They only numb my soul and make it hard for me to see
My thoughts all seem to stray, to places far away
I need a change of scenery
Ta Ta Ta...
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Charcoal burning everywhere
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday
Here in status symbol land
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday...

Part 31 Poetry (and still so much left)

The Future That Isn't Ours We Condemn
The children are the future so let's blame them
Let the adult authority be free to act on whim
The machines of blood will be sold off our hands
Sent to kill people in a million lands
But we shall never fear or hide
For we call it another man's genocide
We don't have to worry about the sea, the land or the sky
Let the children save it we have no need to comply
The earth isn't going to vanish before we die
Let the children find out how, we have no reason why
When you are the power and ultimate authority
You can always pass the buck to another to handle the responsibility

They Killed You
They killed you Lord they killed you
They killed you and blamed it on the Jew
They killed you Lord by hate and intolerance
They hated your Word but used it at their own expense
They killed you Lord they killed you by slander and libel
They killed you Lord by rewriting the Bible
They called you a hater, a man of warfare
They called you careless indifferent to our welfare
Christian minds turn atheist from their lies
They defended genocide in your name for their enterprise

Consumerism
No one is talking about the resurrection
Just their defective erection
And hopes of a competent election
In the market talking about natural selection
While truth lays beyond their detection
Blind to the cure of their infection
Sheltered by Harm disguised as Protection
Building walls around Godly affection
And walls that block self-inspection
The Whores of Babylon continue to entice
To just keep buying that crappy merchandise
Exploiting but never remembering Christ
Never looking twice
At the price
Or even thinking about the sacrifice
Or stopping to take instead of giving advice
But I know I should speak nice
Because this is my own vice

The Monkees (Film) Scene II

(in the house with Peter, Micky, Carole, Davy, and Mike just entering)
Micky: Where the heck were you Mike?
Mike: Don't mess with me Micky.
Peter: (sympathetic) Another fight with Mary huh?
Mike: Shut up Peter
Davy: What the hell crawled up your ass?
Mike: Forget it (leaves mumbling to himself) why the hell do I mess with all this anyway? (Mary enters)
Davy: By the way Mike's acting I suppose you're still not putting out.
Mary: We can't all be the shameless whore you are Davy (leaves following Mike)
Micky: Great job dumbass you know I'm the only one to make amends with Mike just so we can get back to practicing
Davy: Oh like you're the big peace keeper.
Micky: Well what would you do to get the band back together?
Davy: Go solo. He'd do it in a second if he didn't need us.

Part 30 Poetry (and just getting warmed up)

To Heather Mills

Heather, a lady deserving of dignity
Heather, a woman I serve with loyalty
To her I'll give my whole-hearted dedication
To her I'll give her non-restraining protection
I'll show my affection as a platonic friend
Until the passion of love it shall transcend
Passion and compassion, lover and friend
Mixed together in an equilibrium blend
As a true gentleman and her lover
I shall until eternity love her
A love of respect and of consideration
A love like calming meditation
A love of freedom and security
A love of passion and of purity

Comfort Love
I want a love that fits like a pennyloafer
Comfort casual a friendship that's hardly more
One that can go with me anywhere and not get complicated
Together so long our quirks won't get us irritated
If I can't have a friendship with romance
I would not give it half a chance
It's as simple as it sounds love won't last without love
Love that warms and protects like a cotton glove

Senseless Censorship
Liberals censoring the politically incorrect
Conservatives censoring the "dissident sect"
Protecting us against senseless muttering
So many beeps on the t.v. set sounds like stuttering
All that is said is mute or dumb
Waiting years for wisdom to come
Why are why are Bush and Clinton heroes
But we persecute those on talk shows
Why is Michael Moore the commie?
Why is Bill O'Reilly the Nazi?
The President and Congressmen have the power
The commentators only have their hour

The Monkees (Film) Scene I

(in a parked car with Mike and his wife Mary in their driveway)
Mike: So, what are you saying that I should sell out on my dreams and be practical worrying about making a living instead of living my life? If I asked that of you any marriage counselor would tell you to just leave me.
Mary: You're suppose to be the provider. All you've provided is debt. We're living with three of your ex-college band mates. You said that if you weren't signed by your senior year you'd get a steady job and you graduated college seven years ago.
Mike: Yeah and I promised the band that if I got steady work I wouldn't lose focus on the band and I had a choice between playing a gig that paid $500 for a two hour event or going to my work that pays $10 an hour.
Mary: But you got fired.
Mike: So that gig landed me another job and word of mouth about The Monkees exploded.
Mary: You've had five gigs since and that was two years ago and my waitressing money can't feed five people and whoever your friends drag in from a bar.
Mike: Carole's helping out.
Mary: Yeah that's another thing, I don't like that, that stripper is always here.
Mike: Hey she's Micky's girlfriend besides it's the only job where she can find health care.
Mary: So would you like it if I was a stripper
Mike: Well, considering you're my wife and yet I barely see you naked myself, I don't think I'd like the idea of you being around other men.
Mary: Especially since they'd be better providers.
Mike: One minute you hate strippers then you want to be one the next minute.
Mary: I was being sarcastic.
Mike: But you were making a point. That it would have more dignity than being married to me.
Mary: It's hard to know what gets through, you don't take advice.
Mike: The last practical advice I got was to get a degree in computer sciences and all I got was that job at the Wal-Mart electronics department. A lot of help practical advice gets me. (leaves car and enters house)

29th Log Entry of Poetry (and a lot more left)

Wars
Jesus never carried a sword
His fight and protection was God's Word
Truth and love are stronger than spears
Any man who carries both should have no fears
A man with a gun
May kill everyone
But he can't tame the powers of truth and love on the next generation
It'll shine through all creation
You can't go through the road of narrow
Carrying a bow and arrow
This world was not given to die in war
Prevention is the only way to restore

The Woods
Walking along the forest of brown and green
Going where the air is fresh and clean
No sign of destruction of a flower or tree
Miles away from the pollution of industry
Peace with God and all His Creation
Leaves me with a calm sensation
Life in the woods exists in peace
Here is where God's wonders never cease

Subliminal Affection
I love you but you love me in a different way
I live my life hiding my want pretending it's all okay
Subliminal affection is in everything I do
Whenever I am doing anything for you
There is no one to confide in
There is no place for my love to hide in
My motives and emotions are seeping through
Ever getting a more transparent view
I want to hide but my love persists
But as it does your love resists
