The Editor

The Editor:
Hey how did the interview go
The News Reporter:
Sorry chief not much to show
The Editor:
I told you there wasn't much to know
The News Reporter:
There's just not much controversy
Honestly there's no holes in his story
The Editor:
I don't see how that could be
Does he claim to be innocent or guilty?
The News Reporter:
He appears earnestly innocent to me
The Editor:
Well that puts a twist on the story
We will build public sympathy
Defending this vigilante
Think how much we'll sell if we get him set free

Path Deferred
What else can be said
I wish that I was dead
I feel no comfort when I pray
I know it's my fault because He indiscriminately shows The Way
Did I blind myself on His Path
Am I deaf because of His Righteous Wrath
I fall deaf and blind
No help I can find
I'm too cynical to trust
Although I know I must

Dream Hook

It was when I first kept my poetry in my little blue notebook
When I first felt caught by the Dream Hook
Now every night I have a little more hope
And a better way to cope
I can start a better life
Meet a loving wife
Just by being who I am, expressing long hidden feelings of my past
Will help me build a better future that will last
Now I no longer need to fear
Fame will make my path once more clear
Now my rescue has come near
My Dream Hook makes me feel good I'm still here

Auto Bio

I don't give to charity but feed charity cases
I can't remember all the names to all the faces
I don't go to too many places
But my mind wanders into empty spaces
convicted for my convictions
You'll find my truth stranger than fiction

Interviewed

The Prison Guard:
Hey Preacher there's someone here to see you
A news reporter says he wants to do an interview
The Preacher:
Really are sure that's true?
The News Reporter:
Yes it's an article on opposing views of this war
I just got a few questions for you to answer
First off do you consider yourself a political prisoner?
The Preacher:
Politically no it's about the laws of Christ not man
The News Reporter:
What about your legal rights under ban?
The Preacher:
That outcome I still don't understand
How is it trespassing to talk to a neighbor
I just walked up to the door
And asked how he felt about the war
The News Reporter:
You didn't think you were crossing a boundary?
The Preacher:
How else do you catch your neighbor with a moment free?
The News Reporter:
So you were taking advantage of the opportunity?
The Preacher:
No more than anyone else trying to start a conversation
The News Reporter:
Well visiting time is over and I have another reservation
But tomorrow I'll come back so you can finish your explanation

American Churches
Racism, equalism, hate and love
The American churches believe in all the above
They say Christ died for everyone
But nations of men are staring in the barrel of the gun
Hell is spoken to the sinners now living
But in death even Nixon is forgiven

The New Friend
Once sitting here sad and lonely
Never would anyone talk with me
But then one day someone came to sit
And he talked with me a bit
After talking to him for awhile
I started to grin and smile
And by the chats end
I realized I have a new friend

Dear Amy

Dear Amy I could forever say "thank you"
And it would never become trivial or untrue
As the reasons for never grows few
After all you've done and promise to do
You took me in during the storm and welcomed me to a sky clear blue
And stopped my fears before they took form and grew
And for showing me love that I never knew
And for the countless helpful advice you gave I must thank you

Solitaire

The Preacher:
Locked in solitaire for half a year
My purpose couldn't be less clear
What good is a message that no one can hear
Tomorrow will be no better than today
I suppose I never made a difference anyway
In or out they don't care what I have to say

Love Communication
You'll be so happy the next time I meet you
Because I know just how to treat you
I'll do anything you need me to do
To make all your fantasies come true
I'm here for all your emotional needs
With all the loves expressed in my deeds
I have for you every love from agape to eros
In every word, every touch and every moment it shows
Respect, devotion, fondness, romance all waiting on your blessing
Waiting for the response of the one their addressing
So if I'm a knight fit for you, my princess
All I have to hear is yes

Watching Armageddon
As I sit on my roof watching society fall
I wonder if it's the end of our innocence or hopefully the beginning of the end of it all
Is this God's final battle call
Earthquakes, famine, warfare, false prophets, betrayal in every household hall
How many are chosen to survive the Holy Warfare
Is there any left still decent and fair
Who are going to live past Earth's Final Nightmare
Or has everyone fell into Satan's lair

Landscape
On top of the rolling hills
Among the bed of daffodils
On the shores crushed by waves
In the quiet icy caves
In the bushy field of grain
Where the rivers and creeks drain
In the warmth of the beating sun in the desert plain
Or where the forests bloom forth from the rain
On top of mountains steep and high
Where plateaus touch the sky
Or wherever solitude may be
Is where serenity may set you free
