Poetry Post 277

The Entertainer
Here I am the entertainer you've been looking for
I got all I need for showbiz and more
Good looks, talents, brains, good-hearted and friendly to the core
A musician, composer, singer, thespian, dancer, poet, playwright and philosopher
I'll take you to a fantasy land
To some place much more grand
To some place less painful, less bland
Where people are at peace enough to hold hand in hand
Not only will I create an illusion
But I'll promise an permanent solution
I'll fight famine, war and pollution
I'll crumble every institution
I'll mend your broken heart
As my music tears your soul apart
I can make love seem as painful as a poison dart
I can do this all if you put my record in your shopping cart

Faith
Soak in your defeat, then learn from your mistakes
Life is fighting for morality and immortality then stopping for breaks
So be good for goodness' sake
Cause God is real but Santa's fake
No tangible gifts to take
Whether or not God we forsake
Sinners preaching what they cannot follow
Vipers striking poison too hard to swallow
Go home soak in sorrow
Repeat again tomorrow
God has faith in the good in me
Somewhere hidden behind my natural immorality
Someplace too hard for a human to see
What good from me comes to be?
Good deeds fall dead by sins of mine
Make it so hard to find peace of mind

Trapped In Fears
In my life in all my years
I have been trapped inside my fears
Now I wished for something good
Would come from my wasted childhood
But nothing worthwhile came to me
I just sat scared while people others to let me be
Now I sit alone wishing that tomorrow
Will change from today and break my sorrow
